WTEN Olivia Wright Named to All-Conference First Team
STORRS, Conn. - The BIG EAST Conference announced Thursday the all-conference awards as junior Olivia Wright was unanimously named to All-BIG EAST First Team.
"I am very pleased that Olivia was chosen for First-Team Big East All-Conference today," said tennis head coach Glenn Marshall. "She had an excellent spring season personally, and led us to one of our most successful seasons in recent years. Her level of play has continued to improve, and posting a winning record at #1 Singles and #1 Doubles throughout the spring season is very impressive. I am very much looking forward to seeing her lead by example on and off the court next season."
Wright compiled a 10-9 first singles record with significant wins against Butler, Stony Brook, Providence, UMass, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Creighton. In addition, Wright collected an 11-5 doubles record playing primarily at the first doubles position. In total, the junior put up a 5-4 conference record with clinched doubles points against UMass, Villanova, and Rutgers and an eight-match win streak in the spring with wins over Mercer, Valdosta State, Providence, UMass, Georgetown, Villanova, Seton Hall, and Creighton.
The Virginia native will return next season for her senior year.
