Huskies Set to Open BIG EAST Play in Denver

DENVER, Colo. – The UConn women's lacrosse team (4-4) is set for their first BIG EAST conference match-up of the season as they head to Denver to take on the No.13 Pioneers.

The Huskies are on a win streak, having won all three games in their home-stand against Hofstra, Marist, and Columbia. Their defeat of the Lions on Wednesday evening was the largest margin of victory for the Huskies this season at 17-1. Senior attacker, Abby Charron, had a standout game on offense with four goals and three assists. The UConn defense, currently in the top 20 scoring defense in the country, had a season-high 14 caused turnovers in the win.

The No.13 Denver Pioneers (5-3) are coming off a home win versus Stanford. Graduated student, Olivia Penoyer, notched a hat-trick in the win. Goalkeeper, Emelia Bohi made a season-high ten saves.

The teams met twice during the 2023 campaign, once during the regular season at home in Storrs, and once more in the 2023 BIG EAST Tournament Championship game, also hosted at home in Storrs; the Pioneers were the victors in both games. The Huskies are 0-9 all-time against Denver and will look for their first win tomorrow afternoon.

Opening draw is set for Sunday, March 24th at 12:00pm MST (2:00pm EST) and can be streamed here.
