Kyle Johnson Earns BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week Honors
STORRS, Conn. - The BIG EAST Conference announced on Wednesday afternoon first-year jumper Kyle Johnson as BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
At the South Florida Invitational, Johnson leaped a mark of 15.52m (50'11'') in the triple jump breaking his personal best and placing first in the event. On top of that, Johnson's mark is seventh best in UConn program history and also the best mark in the conference, fourth best among all freshmen in the NCAA, eighth best in the NCAA East Region, and 22nd best in the nation.
Also in the triple jump last Friday, junior Kasey Savage (PR,15.19m) and senior Joron Harrell (14.82m) placed third and fourth, respectively.
The triple jump squad will compete next at the UConn Northeast Challenge on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
