HUSKIES FINISH FIFTH AT WEATHER SHORTENED GOLFWEEK/AGT INVITE

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – The UConn men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place at the 2024 Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate tournament at True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C. The event was shortened with Wednesday's final round wiped out due to weather conditions.

The Huskies had a pair of golfers finish in the top-15 as UConn tied for the fifth spot in the 19-team tournament field.  UConn finished at even par over two rounds, shooting 576.  The Huskies shot 293 on Monday but took 10 strokes off that score on Tuesday to climb up the leaderboard. The University of Richmond took home the team title with a two-round score of 570 (-6).

UConn seniors Jimmy Paradise (Tampa, Fla.) and Tommy Dallahan (Simsbury, Conn.) both finished in the top-15 to lead the Husky contingent.  Paradise fired a five-under 67 on Monday coming up with six birdies in the round.  He carded a 74 on Tuesday to finish at 141 and tied for 10th overall, his best tournament finish this spring.  He finished tied for the tournament lead with 11 total birdies over the 36 holes.

Dallahan was tied for 15th overall after shooting 143 over the two rounds.  He posted a 75 on Monday but came back to play bogey free golf on Tuesday with four birdies for a 68. It was his 11th round under par this season and his team-leading fourth top-20 finish.

Freshman Bradley Sawka (Ellington, Conn.) rebounded from a 76 on Monday to card a three-under 69 on Tuesday where he recorded six birdies.  Sawka finished tied for 28th.

UConn's top-five was rounded out by freshman Alex Heard (Boca Raton, Fla.) who tied for 38th shooting 147 (75-72) and junior Ray Dennehy (Princeton, Mass.) in 90th position with a 155 (76-79).  Sophomore Conor Goode (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished tied for 86th playing as an individual with a 154 (77-77).

The Huskies will be off a week before returning to action in the Rutherford Invitational at the Penn State Blue Course on April 13 and 14.
