UConn Health’s Among ‘America’s Best-in-State Hospitals’

John Dempsey Hospital earns Newsweek distinction 3 years running

UConn Health’s John Dempsey Hospital has once again earned a spot on Newsweek’s America’s Best-in-State Hospitals list, marking the third time in the rankings’ three-year history it has received this prestigious recognition.

John Dempsey Hospital is recognized among the top five hospitals in Connecticut and is the only hospital in the state to also receive Newsweek’s Patient Experience Award – a distinction based on exceptional patient satisfaction scores.

“This continued recognition reflects our hospital’s ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care,” says Caryl Ryan, chief nursing officer and hospital chief operating officer. “It’s a tribute to our outstanding clinical providers, and all UConn Health staff who continue to contribute and sustain our positive patient experience.”

The rankings evaluate hospitals nationwide on four key areas: quality metrics, reputation among medical professionals, patient experience data, and patient-reported outcomes. This year’s list includes 800 hospitals across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
