UConn Health ‘Most Wired’
A national survey finds UConn Health to be a high achiever in health care information technology.
The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) 2024 Digital Health Most Wired Survey evaluates adoption, integration, and impact of technologies across health care organizations. Among the nearly 48,000 participating organizations, UConn Health ranked above peers in categories such as analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure, and patient engagement.
UConn Health earned “Certified Level 7” distinction in two categories: acute care and ambulatory care.
“By achieving Level 7 in both acute care and ambulatory, we are significantly enhancing patient care through the outstanding use of our IT solutions,” says UConn Health Chief Information Officer Rick McCarthy. “This accomplishment ensures that critical patient data is captured accurately and shared efficiently with all caregivers, including those outside UConn Health. This seamless information sharing improves the coordination of care, leading to better patient outcomes. Moreover, our focus on a secure and reliable IT infrastructure directly contributes to patient safety and the overall quality of care they receive.”
Only five organizations in Connecticut earned a 2024 “Most Wired” distinction.

CHIME, which reports having more than 3,000 members in 58 countries plus two U.S. territories and nearly 200 health care IT business partners and professional service firms, calls the survey a comprehensive “digital health check-up” for health care organizations globally.
