Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Lambda Chapter, proudly presents a NBA 2K26 Tournament — an exciting two day gaming competition happening November 15th through 16th. Players will face off in intense matchups for a chance to claim the $150 grand prize and bragging rights as the ultimate 2K champion. The tournament features a $5 buy-in for participants, while spectators can attend for free to enjoy the action. The Connecticut Writing Project (CWP) sponsors Connecticut Student Writers (CSW), a magazine established in 1987 by the CWP to honor excellence in writing by students from kindergarten through high school. Enjoy this unique exhibition of rock music memorabilia from the archive of editor, journalist, and radio disc jockey Ken Best. This personal collection features decades worth of iconic photos, album covers, posters and promotional materials that Best has amassed while writing about music for newspapers in New Jersey and Connecticut and interviewing musicians and authors on the radio at WPKN in Bridgeport and WHUS in Storrs. Highlighted will be 50 photos of major rock 'n' roll figures by Connecticut photographer Joseph Sia, including his famous image of Jimi Hendrix at Woolsey Hall in New Haven in 1968, known as "The Shadow," from Best and Sia's 1992 book,Eight Days a Week: An Illustrated Record of Rock 'n' Roll (Pomegranate Books).

This course consists of eight online modules that the student can complete independently. An instructor will meet virtually with the students weekly to review each module topic and answer questions. Expect to spend study time reviewing each module topic outside of the review class. A student who completes all the modules, works through the quizzes, and studies the resource materials independently should be able to pass both the written and oral state exam successfully.

Rooted in the lived experiences of African-descended people—from the Amistad captives to the soldiers of the 29th Connecticut Regiment—this program invites you to examine citizenship not just as a legal status, but as a recognition of one's humanity. Blending history, the humanities, and contemporary issues, we'll trace a powerful continuum of exclusion and resistance, highlighting themes such as agency, military service, civic activism, and the impact of documents. Our exploration connects African-descended histories with Indigenous sovereignty, women's suffrage, Latinx organizing, and modern voter suppression. Structured through reflection, storytelling, document analysis, and civic engagement, the program challenges us to ask: Who counts as a citizen? What rights come with it? How do our histories shape our civic responsibilities today? We invite you to bring your experiences, voice, and curiosity as we reconsider the meaning of citizenship—then and now. Encounter programs dive deep into these questions through facilitated, small-group dialogues, followed by an engaging Q&A with UConn faculty and community partners.
