Disparities can affect specific populations due to race, religion, language, sexual identity, gender, and other factors. Their pervasiveness can be seen in pharmacy and therapy services as well as research. This symposium will highlight how disparities can be identified in some areas of neurology and what steps can and have been taken to bridge this gap. Sexpert Peer Health Educator Peer Support Drop-In Hours are a free service offered on the UConn Storrs campus. Peer Support Drop-In Hours are a great option for students who have questions about sex and sexual health, are looking for a non-judgmental, laid-back environment to discuss a sex related concern or issue, or are interested in improving their sexual health and personal well-being. The Sexperts are trained to provide education, support, and connection to resources on and off-campus on a wide variety of topics pertaining to sex, sexual health, and relationships. Fall 2025 Drop In Hours: September 15th – December 5thMonday: 12pm-4pm Tuesday: 9am-6:30pm Wednesday: 11:15am-6pm Thursday: 11am-5:30pm Friday: 10:30am-5:30pm Sexperts (and supervising staff) are designated confidential employees under UConn's Title IX Reporting Obligations. - Oct 1612:00 PMSSW Annual Lecture in Social WorkProfessor S. Megan Berthold presents "Healthcare Access Among Asylum Seekers and Refugees: Comparative Insights from Research in Canada and the U.S." Dr, Berthold's widely published research addresses topics concerning refugees, asylum seekers, immigration, and trauma. She's worked clinically with survivors of torture, war, genocide, and other traumas since the late 1980s. She has testified extensively in the U.S. federal immigration court as an expert witness and serves on the U.S. National Consortium of Torture Treatment Programs' Executive Committee, heading the Consortium's research.
