Black Jewish Scholars on Antiblack Racism and AntisemitismA Two-day Public ConversationApril 29th and 30th, 2025Konover Auditorium, UConn–Storrs Campus This event involves a group of Black Jewish scholars discussing their research addressing issues at the intersection of antiblack racism and antisemitism. They will center their traditions' shared ground and offer insights for the general academic community and public. While many participants will have strong political positions, the goal of this meeting is not ideological. Candidates who attend school or live in Eastern Connecticut are strongly encouraged to apply, and will be considered first. The Summer 2025 internship term runs from May through August 2025. Exact start and end dates are negotiable. This defense shares findings from a qualitative study on gender equity in secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, with a focus on the experiences of girls, particularly girls of color, in male-dominated trade classrooms. Drawing from classroom observations and teacher interviews, the study examines how instructor beliefs, expectations, and lived experiences influence learning environments and shape student success. The presentation offers insights into the challenges and opportunities for advancing inclusion in skilled trades and highlights how teacher mindset can serve as a critical lever for equity in education.
