UCTV (UConn Student Television)

UCTV strives to educate students in the practice of production and broadcasting through the creation of original student-made programming and prepare them for future endeavors in the broadcast and entertainment industry. UCTV also offers practical experience in broadcast news, sports journalism, finance, marketing, advertising, and studio operations. UCTV serves as a source of information and entertainment as well as an outlet for creative expression for all undergraduate University of Connecticut students with an interest in television and its related areas of business.

No prior experience is needed to become a member! To get involved, the first step is to go to a department meeting. Take a look at what each of our departments does, as well as their respective meeting times and locations, below. Feel free to drop in on any meeting that interests you! 
 
ADVERTISING 
- Mondays @7pm, Student Union Room 410 
- Creates creative promotional videos and short ad campaigns for on-campus organizations and local businesses.
- Students can gain real-word experience in the video-making process from making, to editing, to lighting.

ENTERTAINMENT
- Mondays @6, Student Union 303.
- Allows students to produce TV shows and entertaining shorts. Students have opportunities in working behind the camera, including idea creation, writing, filming, and producing, as well as being in front of the camera as an actor.

NEWS
- Mondays @ 6:30, Student Union Room 409.
- Allows students to reports on campus, local, and national news and events. Students have opportunities in anchoring, writing, editing, control room/technology use, and camerawork.

SPORTS
- Mondays @ 7pm, Room AUST 110  
- Reports on the UConn sports teams, as well as pro sports. Produces multiple studio shows a week.
- Allows students to report on current college and professional sports. Students have opportunities in covering games, interviewing coaches and athletes, producing and anchoring shows, and traveling to away games and conferences.

FILM 
- Tuesdays @ 7pm, MONT 421.
- Allows students to produce 2-4 short films a semester. Students have opportunities in all facets of the video production process, from writing to editing all other artistic processes in between.
